Fifth in the new series. Busy Cart was a candidate robot for the first round of 30 designs I published back in 2024, but it missed the cut. In my made-up taxonomy, I classify this one as a “job robot,” alongside classics like Yoneya’s Space F.D. Robot or Yoshiya’s Mr. Chief.

I don’t always include the attachments that come with the original toys in my 3D designs, like wired remote controllers or optional parts, but given this guy’s name and occupation, it seemed essential to include the cart. Accurately reproducing the cart turned out to be an unexpected challenge, because I initially had trouble tracking down reliable reference images to figure out its shape. Generally speaking, this is a pretty faithful reproduction of the original bot, but I converted the arms to tin (the original’s arms were plastic. For shame! I kid.).

Going forward, I’ll likely be pivoting to more of a 50/50 mix of OG classics and imagined tin toy designs. I hope to complete a few more this year, and crank out about a dozen more in 2027, so I have enough to publish my next set of postcards by the end of the year.
