This was a relatively simple piece compared to the last few I’ve done – I was able to finish it up over a couple free afternoons. Inspired by vintage travel posters of Italy’s southern coast – places like like Positano, Amalfi, etc. I wanted the final piece to convey a warm vibe and feel loose and infomal, but I also wanted the overall scale to to look “right,”. I initially planned to do it as an isometric or axonometric composition like my previous two “city” drawings, but I wasn’t happy with the initial sketches, so I pivoted to perspective instead. I drew a smple vanishing perspective grid to asssure the building fronts would be aligned, and started blocking it up from top to bottom. Would love to visit this part of the world someday!
